‘Flip the switch’<\/em>\u00a0is a nationwide campaign by the Dutch government calling on everyone to relieve the electricity grid. The pressure on our energy network is increasing rapidly. The campaign urges us all to shift our electricity usage to different times of the day, helping to reduce peak loads between 16:00 hrs and 21:00 hrs.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This call to action highlights that the energy transition is not only a technical challenge but also a societal necessity. Grid operators are working hard to expand the electricity network, but this takes time. Meanwhile, they are facing outdated infrastructures, environmental concerns, and the urgent need for digitalization.<\/p>\n

The challenge is enormous, according to Enexis: \u201cthe electricity grid that has been built over more than 100 years must be doubled within just 10 years\u201d. Due to the complexity and urgency of this task, grid operators are increasingly outsourcing work to their main contractors. At the same time, there is a severe shortage of qualified personnel.
